Tom, you need to get hold of the Windows Developer CD's and go through
them for every white paper on anything related to palettes. Windows
has a lot of little quirks when it come to how 8 bit palettes are
handled. Print out all the information and read it thoroughly. You
will get a much better understanding of what is going on.
