Though of something when I left work for the mall that might work, or perhaps point you to an Idea that might work (haven't tried it myself, so I may just be plain wrong). First dolly the camera back and move it so that your transparent text is in the correct position to substitute as your drop shadow. Render out the animation w/both alpha and split alpha on. In a paint program, make a solid grey picture (no Idea what the color values should be, it might even be close to white). Make an ifl for your split alpha pics. Set your PAR ifl as the first layer, the grey picture as your second layer with the split alpha channel as your rgb mask, and your keyframer as the last level. I don't know if this'll work for you, but it sounded logical enough when I thought about it; will prob. require a few tests to see if it'll do the job.
