3DS Artists Wanted
We are looking for 3DS artists for video tape and CD-ROM development and
production. You must live in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area or be relatively close.
Long-distance relationships are not possible for the kinds of things we are
developing. Future game development is possible too.
We are looking for experienced people as well as people new to 3DS. Experience
helps but is not our overriding concern. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
is the prime factor.
First, this is a royalty-only situation and a contract position. Everyone
associated with this project is operating this way until we get off the ground.
So don't quit your day job!
Second, you must have your own equipment. A minimum is a 486 PC with a true
color card, 3D Studio release 4, and around 32MB of RAM. Some of the things we
are rendering are requiring 64 to 128 MB of RAM to avoid disk swapping. In
other words, we are using IPAS routines like crazy! To be legal, any IPAS
routines used by you must be purchased by you. We will not copy software to
complete a project or create a super effect. Later on the firm will purchase
software for developers but for now everyone brings their own.
To give you an idea what we use includes a UNIX network of Pentium 90 and 100s,
Scanmaker III scanner, DPS PAR board with the Micropolis 2217A 1.7 GB disk, a
DPS TBC IV board, a SVHS video camera, and a FAST Video Machine with 4 SVHS pro
VTRs. We have all of the Yost IPAS routines, and LenzFX and Magic from
Digimation. We already have plans to get several Dual Pentium 133 machines as
soon as 3DS R5 comes out for Windows NT.
Third, we will do final rendering, editing, music and sound dubbing, and live
filming are our place in Dallas.
Our subject material is highly technical in nature so if you are interested in
creating art, don't apply. We don't want it pretty but eyecatching, stunning,
exciting, and totally awesome. Some of the things we are doing includes fire,
explosions, fluid dynamics, crashes, engineering, skin and slice (we might use
Bones Pro for this), and landscaping.
The principle people are very nervous types in that they don't want their ideas
stolen so there is a non-disclosure and non-compete agreement required to be
agreed to and signed before you are included in this project.
This is a ground floor opportunity for those interested.
