Tony,
-> Tell us more about the ClariSSA, Super Smooth Anims.
The SSA anim format was first introduced by ProDAD of Germany with their
Low-cost Video Effects Package "Adorage". SSA Anims are always interlaced.
They don't consist of full frames, but rather of different half-frames,
like TV. They play a lot faster than Anim-5s do.
ClariSSA is ProDADs second package. It allows you to convert any ANIM-5 or
series of single frames into an SSA. It offers DDO (dynamic disk operation
= playing off HD), a full ARexx interface, some forward-backward effects
and four buffers for different anims to combine.
The finished SSAs run much faster than the original ANIM-5s. The interface
is fully style guide compliant but the operation takes a little getting
used to. The drawback is that SSAs can only be played from ClariSSA and
not for example from Scala MM or AmigaVision. There is not even a
stand-alone player.
We use ClariSSA mainly with time-critical DCTV anims. We plan to use it
for compiling large anims from several smaller ones which will require a
little ARexx-Programming.
If you want to know more, contact ProDAD, Feldelestrasse 24, 7717
Immendingen 6, Germany. It costs around $120.
However, at the Computer Graphics '9, here in Zurich, I heard that a
special, A4000-optimized anim format will be developed. The specs will be
given out to developers to integrate the format in their apps (like SCALA
etc.). This is, however, still Vaporware.
I am in no way associated with ProDAD aside from being a satisfied
customer.
P.S. to stay with the thread title: ClariSSA cannot integrate sound into
animations ;^)
