Jack,
You might try looking at some of the good books available on 3DS. The most
readily available are Inside 3D Studio and 3D Studio Special Effects. You
should be able to find them at any good bookstore. Just to get an idea of what
is possible, take a look at Special Effects. Over half of the projects do not
use any plug-ins.
