You won't get an exact match of NTSC to VGA monitors but one thing you might
verify is the gamma setting for your "file output" This should be set for 1.5
to 1.8 for the PAR to yield good looking color depth. Be sure your monitor is
calibrated for color saturation and brightness by using a set of SMPTE bars.
After setting the color and tint on the monitor observe the three small black
chips at the lower right corner of the smpte bars. Adjust the brightness
control so that the first two bars just blend together while the third is
slightly brighter. This sets the black level of the monitor for 7.5 IRE black.
