Your text color problem is likely related to the fact that the FLIC format uses only 256 colors. Take a look at custom palettes in the reference manual, pages 8-117 through 8-119. What you'll need to do is develop a custom palette that has a decent sampling of colors from both the background -and- your lettering. – Dave
