No offense, but I always find this type of reasoning backwards. The "dollar",
as you put it, is based on what people want and therefor cannot be an
independent variable. If Autodesk can see that letting 3DS run on the Alpha
will cause a greater market for 3DS, I'm sure they'll do something about it
sooner or later.
