Just a couple problems/reports on using AAS:
1) Using Utilities/Stretch time on a movie that was 180 frames in length worked
until we stretched the time to 365 frames (that is, it worked on 364 and
below). At that point the program went nutty, trying to add around 800 or 900
frames instead of around 200. Yes, I know the help file says that this works
IF the movie is "around the correct length" or words to that effect, but what
the hell does that mean, really? Either it should work, or it should give you
an error like "I am about to go crazy, now" just so you know.
2) Loading in a compressed MOV file and then resaving it causes the compression
to be lost, unless you specifically go to Settings and choose a compression.
This isn't true of FLC files, so I can only assume it was an oversight (and a
nasty one at that, since QuickTime won't play a MOV file that hasn't been
compressed!). Moral: AAS should preserve the compression of whatever is loaded
and then resave it out that way unless told otherwise.
3) We ended up having to pad a lot of our movies by duping a frame repeatedly.
Pressing Control-L is fine for ten or twenty frames, but beyond that it's slow
and a waste of time. You can dupe a longer sequence of stills once you've
created them, but that also takes time to set up the sequence, copy it to the
clipboard, and then Control-L the exact number of times you need.
Since adjusting the length of a movie quickly and easily dupes the end frame of
it as many times as necessary, it would sure be nice to have an option that,
when you adjust the length of a movie, allows you to specify exactly where the
frames will be added (by default duping this particular frame over and over).
Perhaps just a frame number, or something, but I can see that we would have
used this feature a lot.
