Yes you are right 3DS is not suited for the design process it mearly illustrates the design afterwards. I however do design straight in ACAD13 at this time even sometimes in 3D using ACIS solid modelling and this does give fast results. We have to remember that 3DS is mainly an animation package and I do not think it is therfore suited to design a building it is suited to design smaller things or objects used for animations for publicity etc… Designing a building does require more accurate measurement in my opinion, in these situations 3DS is not suited because it does not matter if everything is exact it just has to look good. I am using the KETIV Blocks an Materials CD-ROM and as far as I know it is the best CD-ROM suited for architectural Visualisation I know, I use it very often. Integrating 3DS in my practice is difficult because a lot of the time the design process does not offer the time for Visualisation. However I also do it for other architects, more and more of them are asking for it overhere. Christophe
