I wouldn't limit it to 3DS though, it applies across the board for CAD and CG in architecture. Very few offices use 3D for design, and most still place CAD grunts at the bottom of the food chain. Theoretically, the possibilities are much more expansive. Have you seen William Mitchells books on architectural CG? Lots of possibilities.
