UCLA Extension Entertainment Studies
Advanced 3D Studio Techniques
Saturday and Sunday August 5 and 6
This course focuses on advanced computer animation techniques in 3D Studio,
including the creation of computer animation, practical tips, and real-life
project descriptions and case studies. It covers advanced concepts from video
output to IPAS routines, game development, architectural visualizations,
multimedia presentations, and character animation.
Lectures and demonstrations by guest experts are presented by Gregory Pyros,
AIA, CEO of Pyros Pictures, an award-winning computer animation and graphics
company. Mr. Pyros is also a partner in TrialVision, a company that creates
forensic graphics for use in courtroom presentations. His credits include
animation and graphics for three CBS prime-time specials, sixteen network
television shows, the NBC Nightly News, and several feature films. He is the
co-author of "Inside 3D Studio" and "3D Studio Special Effects", and is a
frequent lecturer on computer graphics at international events.
Mr. Pyros is joined by guest experts including award-winning designers,
authors, and instructors who helped to bring about the desktop PC animation
revolution. All are hands-on animators, with over 40 years' combined computer
animation experience. Speakers confirmed at press time will be supplemented by
other guest experts in Los Angeles for Siggraph '95, which starts immediately
after this course.

Prerequisite: Participants should possess a working knowledge of 3D Studio.

A service charge of $25 is withheld from all refunds (full refund if course is
canceled, discontinued, or rescheduled). No refund granted unless request is

Parking
Parking on the UCLA campus without permit is $5 per entry. There will be
attendants at designated gates to collect the parking fee.
