Jim:
I think you're rightly concerned about using a standard AC power
adapter on your Model 100. After all, why does Radio Shack bother to sell a
special adapter (26-3804) for the same price as the one you bought? Referring
to 26-3804, your owners manual says on page 5 to "use only this power supply!"
and that has always been my guide.
I admit that I've seen a Model 100 on display at another Radio Shack
store running off a standard adapter, and at that time at least it didn't
appear to have fried its brains.
The problem is that the warehouse (for Southern California, at least)
has been out of 26-3804 for about a month and just about all store stock is
gone, around here anyway. But in my store, where I want to keep demos running
all the time on both a Model 100 and Tandy 200, I'm sticking with batteries
rather than taking a chance on the standard AC unit.
As to your other question about non-Radio Shack parts, I'll leave that
for non-Radio Shack people to answer…Rick
