John,
DMCS invokes Soundscape by design. That's so you can output DMCS scores to
Soundscape via MIDI channels. My guess would be that since you have the
soundscape.library in your libs directory, you will always invoke soundscape
when running DMCS. I've found that it is not a very stable configuration and
try only to use it just long enough to transfer my music. (You're probably
getting the GURU becuase you don't have the copy protected Soundscape
distribution disk in your drive, and then DMCS just starts up normally.)
Check to see if Soundscape is present in the background by moving the DMCS
score window out of the way and then try to pull the screen down. If you see
the patch panel behind the DMCS screen you have both running, if not,
Soundscape terminated because of the copy protection.
Probably, the only way to stop this is by renaming soundscape.library before
starting DMCS. EA might be able to give you a way to bypass this. If they do,
please let the rest of us know.
