Craig,
Landings during qualification MUST be done using the arrestor hook, hitting
the arrestor line area, and during the qualification mission. Landing using
just the brakes won't get you the qualification. You also must land from the
South.
The easiest method I've found is to launch, cut left ten degrees, then loop
until inverted. Fly inverted back over the carrier slowly gaining altitude
until you're about 9000 feet. Continue at that altitude until you're about
five miles away, then finish the loop. YOu should be almost perfectly lined
up. Aim for the deck, and when you're about to land, chop throttle to 50%,
gear down, arrestor hook down, then hit the brakes. Aim for the grey area on
the deck. You should stop rather abrubtly if you hit the lines correctly. Cut
your engines. You SHOULD now be qualified.
