Jon, All I can say is that it works for me. Whap! opens 3 serial ports. 1 for read, 1 for write, 1 strictly to monitor DTR. When Whap! is sitting at the main screen all are closed. When it invokes another terminal program read and write are closed and DTR remains open doing nothing but monitoring the line. It sounds like a hardware problem with your modem. Best, -jcs-
