#Howdy!
Lee,
Just thought I'd second your thoughts on MS-DOS ports on the Amiga. I'd
certainly prefer a pure Amiga program, but file compatibility with the MS-DOS
world is a major concern for me, too. I use WordPerfect because I generate
some rather lengthy, highly formatted documents and the other folks at my
office who are mired in the MS-DOS world are not impressed with the suggestion
that they take unformatted ASCII files from me to work on. The same thing is
true with database applications. We use some dBase III+ applications at work,
so I need a database program that will be able to run the dBase application and
use the dBase files we've built up. Text import and export alone is just not
enough.
I'd sure love to see added to Excellence! the ability to import
WordPerfect and WordStar files with all formatting preserved. I'd also like to
see an Amiga program with the ability to run dBase applications and use dBase
files. _And_ still be an Amiga program. Is this asking too much? I don't
think so.
