Lucas & More Memory
I would like to tell anybody out there who is using a Lucas board that it
is possible to add on an outside expansion box to the A1000 for more memory
etc. I am currently running an A1000 with a Lucas 68020/68881 board running at
16Mhz, also I have added a PHOENIX PEC-2120 two slot expander with power
supply, which has a Commodore 2058 with 2 meg currently on board, on the end of
the bus I have a RSI wedge hard drive controller with 80 meg CDC Wren and 30
meg CDC Wren hard drives attached.
I initially had a lot of Bus errors GURU 00000003.etc , 00000004.etc and
had tried adding terminating networks etc. but after calling PHOENIX they
suggested adding a 10 ohm resistor in series with all Address, Data and Control
leads comming into the Phoenix Box at the 86 pin connector. which ment cutting
traces. I dont like cutting traces but I added the 40 + resistors and it seems
to have squished all the problems I was having. It seems the resistors damp out
bus echoing. This is the same thing done in the A2000.
Any one interested in adding on to the A1000 my find this info helpful.
Now I am building the 32 bit memory board (FRANCES) for the LUCAS
platform, then we really should see some speed.
