The disk validator after checking a flag in the root directory, and
finding it to be "wrong" goes thru the directory and filestructure and attempts
to see if everything is "ok" or not. If it is, it validates the disk…if not,
it posts the warning. The only thing the validator will change is the "bit map
valid" flag.
DiskDoctor, on the other hand, supposedly checks the files and their
associated sectors and trys to insure that only one file claims any specific
sector on the disk…and that specific sectors that belong to a file are marked
as "in use" in the bit map. When it finds an error, it tries to fix it, not
always successfully depending on the damage.
