Jan, Why not pick nits? I was <G>. Gold will eventually tarnish, although it isn't as much of a problem as with other metals. The lacquer also protects it from being rubbed or scratched off. Have you ever looked at a CD with a strong light behind it, holding your fingers between the light and the disc? You can actually see your fingers through the metallized disc. The metal is only a few microns thick, like the gold on an astronaut's helmet. It's so thin it's translucent, but it is still an excellent reflector. Kathy
