I really would like a reply from Impulse on this distortion thing. I spent 10 years doing commercial photography before I started computer animation: I know what lens distortion is and where it comes from. This is *not* 'normal' distortion. It can only be compensated for by unnatural camera angles or object tilts, which cause unrealisitic perspective: i.e., the sides of letters are straight, but the object has been tilted so to get the verticals to agree that you're looking down at like a 15-20 deg. angle. It would seem that this is a function of the environment description inside the code, or polar co-ords adding some sort of unpleasantness, but I don't write code, so I can only guess.
