Well, with a non-HAM paint program (DPaintIII, etc) it is trivial; two ways: 1) just go to the palette and change the color you want altered…. bingo – done. 2) use stencils to freeze all colors you don't want changed, and then you can change just small areas of the picture. With a HAM paint program like DigiPaint III, though, I'm not sure if it can be done. Even if the color you want to change *is* part of the palette, you can't just go changing it without affecting a lot of other pixels. And DigiPaint has no stencil cabability. (I'm not sure of SpectraColor has a stencil mode or not?) I can see the difficulties of implementing this in a HAM paint program, tho. Any color that is not one of the 16 register colors is not really 'guaranteed' to be a specific shade in a HAM paint program. The program just does as good a job as it can of getting to your chosen color. So it would be difficult to exactly specify what colors you want modified. (but I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good feature – just difficult) –jp–seattle–
