At this time, Microsoft must feel as if it were betrayed. After all, Windows was the company's "golden fleece" (and you'd feel fleeced if you bought it). Windows has the uncanny ability to take a super 25 mzh 80386 machine and make it feel like an old XT. Commodore, IMHO, should first try to see if it could buy into or otherwise negotiate an "in" into the Apple/IBM alliance, so it would be able to offer an operating system to future Amiga owners that would run industry standard software. Indeed, Commodore has quite a bit of technology it could share, namely CDTV and the Amiga OS. Failing any kind of positive response from that offer, Commodore should consider entering into an alliance with Microsoft (and hopefully other major vendors, such as Compaq or Dell). The goal of such an alliance would be to produce a rival operating system to IBM/Apple's that would run on multi-platforms. Such an operating system would combine the best elements of Windows (Microsoft's name) with that of Amiga OS (all the good stuff we already know about). But since we know Commodore doesn't like to co-operate with other companies in such manner, it's all academic, isn't it (speaker, foaming at mouth, is carried off soapbox by men in white coats, put into strait jacket and trucked off to god-knows-where)… Over the flight pattern… – via Whap!
