All of what you said is probably true. Unfortunately, reality seldom has
much to do with marketing. After all, if that were the case, the IBM PC
would have died six months after its introduction. It was inferior to all
of the other 16 bit machines (which actually were 16 bit machines BTW) on
the market. It was more expensive than most of them too. Even the other
Intel based offerings were superior.
