I agree with your assesment 100%. Infact, I'll go a step further and
suggest that the joint venture (and that's what it is, not a merger) if it
accomplishes anything, will succeed in standardizing some formats and/or
platforms. OTOH, joint ventures between competing companies that have
opposite approaches to marketing have, on occaision, resulted in a lot of
chaos that actually produced nothing (RUBBERMAID-ALLIBERT).
