Yes, I did see your son's message.
I understand how things do get lumped together .. although Commodore must
take a lot of the blame for the Atari/Amiga equation .. but they are _very_
different machines.
I have seen the Mac multi-tasking (we use many of them at work), and I
can't say I'm that impressed … the Amiga's multi-tasking centres on a few
k of hand-crafted machine code which is tightly written and is actually a
pleasure to examine. I suspect that this, coupled with the pre-emptive
multi-tasking, is what makes the Amiga's multi-tasking so very efficient.
Of course, multi-processing is a different ball-game 🙂
I had heard that the variable-speed drives had been abandoned … for the
sake of at least some standardisation, I guess the storage loss will be
worth it.
Anyway … for a non-Amiga man, you have certainly seeded a very lively
discussion 🙂 I hope we see you here again.
