I'd reccomend Atari ONLY if your planning on using MIDI stuff. Thats about the only appreciable lead in software it has in the US over Amiga right now. Even thats begining to change though (Bars & pipes Pro etc..) Basically With an Amiga you get more colors, more expandability, and a better OS. (I'm sure some ST people will jump on me now, but thats my opinion) Commodore right now has a GREAT trade up program, in that if you can prove ownership of practically any previous Commodore computer (Vic 20, C64, C128, etc..) You can get up to $1500 off on an Amiga 3000. Even if you don't have a Commodore computer, I'm sure you could find an old C64 somewhere for under $100 bucks. All you need to do is write the serial number on the owners manual and take it to a participating dealer. I'm sure other people will help you with the Specifics of the Amiga 3000 (I got a lowly 500 so I can't speak about the 3000 from experience, but playing on them makes me envious!) Where CBM is headed? I don't think anyones knows for sure, I doubt if anyone has known for the last 3 years. They kinda just keep hanging in there. They've got arguably the best service and repair policy for Personal computers today, and possibly a good market in CDTV (though no one will really know until the smoke clears…) Right now, Video and Multimedia are solid niches and with the 3000Unix system, the Company has possibilities, I think it's way they execute everyone's going to be watching.
