Roger, I dont know if the Cameron Hand Scanner is available in the US…I suggest you look around for it if you think that OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a feature you will need. Since you started this thread I got a bit interested in hand scanners and went to look at a few in operation.Something that I have discovered which may be of interest is that some scanners that are made for the PC world can do 256 grey scales which looks very impressive (most (people I asked wanted to show me one working on a PC) but most of the Amiga items will only do 16 grey scales,although I have read that the new Pandaal Daatascan will do 64 in 300 and 400 DPI (dots per inch) mode.On the down side the Pandaal wont do OCR!. Im sorry if this only adds to the confusion but I think that they are points worth considering…..Its seems that a 256 grey scale hand scanner that will do OCR isnt available yet for the Amiga….if Im wrong then point me in the right direction and I will buy one!
