Michael: I've done tests (since I'm as confused about this mem allocation stuff as the next guy) and as far as I've been able to ascertain, my programs, when using MEMF_PUBLIC, suck out FAST ram first, and if they need more, it goes after the CHIP ram. This seems to be an automatic thing that the OS takes care of. I mean, if my software needs your CHIP ram (because there's no FAST left), its going to try to get it, whether I implicitly ask for it or if the OS gets it. And why fill up my software with decision-making code when the OS seems to have the same code built in to it? BTW, I'm no techtoid: all I know is what happens when my software runs using MEMF_PUBLIC.
