"it describes every pixel that makes one [bit-image] up" When you say "describe", PostScript doesn't describe each pixel as it does each letter/word in text. Instead, it takes the bitmap in binary form (just as it might be in IFF or internally represented) and converts each byte to hex … it just doubles the number of bytes used. Describing text, one character at a time, can sometimes mean as many as 40 times the number of characters. Mike (Whapping from the UK)
