I would certainly agree with that .. and I kinda tried to imply that in one
of those earlier replies.
I've done a lot of work in ProPage which has gone to a bureau. Originally,
I took the PS code on MS-DOS disks and they did, as you said, fairly whip
through the RIP. In fact, on my first visit, the operator ran a simple
document through and the Lino started to feed out the bromide into the
carrier. He saw the laser-proof and said that there was obviously something
wrong, since it must have produced a blank page, so he ran it through
again. It did the same … so he then said he ought to import it into a Mac
and try again (fortunately, he had warned me to bring EPS versions just in
case)
This was imported into the Mac and then printed … this time it took much
longer (presumably because of the Mac prologue) and he was happy.
When he then processed the bromides, he got the shock of his life!! The
bureau now owns an Amiga, but sadly doesn't use it very often.
