Not such an outlandish thought. That's exactly what I plan to do as soon as
I can put an 040 in my 3000. This is the direction that hardware
development has taken from the beginning. We are using programs today on
these machines that would have been unthinkable on lesser machines a few
years ago. As soon as 20 MIPS becomes a kind of bottom of the range of
acceptable power, we will very quickly 'look back' and smile when we
remember things like the need for bit maps . . .like we look back on CP/M
or the early MS DOS machines now.
