Well, for on-screen resolution the IBMers certainly are up with the Amigas
[actually better, since they get their 480 vertical res with no interlace
flicker 🙂 ] And most all 'serious' IBMers doing any sort of graphing
have VGA, which is at least 640x480x16 colors…. so on-screen performance
is ok on IBMs (IMHO)….
if you mean outputting to the limits of the display device (which I think
you mean), then you are right on. No reason a program should not be able
to give you a 'pretty darn good' graph on screen, and a GREAT one on paper.
As far as I'm concerned, you should be able to design both at the same time
(since you may well want both available), but specifying which elements to
print on the screen/paper. (ie. you might want more detail on the printed
graph, which you should be able to ignore when designing the screen
graphic.)
So, the problem is in 'device-independent' output (is that the right
term?). And I don't know that the amiga has any great leap over other
platforms there; the Mac and IBM certainly have drawing/graphic/DTP
programs that are good at allowing 'to the resolution of the display
device' output….
