[ continuation ] Mbytes/second (with a 50MHz 68030) and linedraw rates averaging 3 million pixels/second (with a 33MHz 68040) to be achieved. This incredible performance allows the EGS-110/24 to perform flat shaded graphics faster than on any "TIGA" based graphics co-processor board. These amazing performance numbers are also a direct result of the close coupling of the EGS-110/24 with the 32-bit wide 68030/68EC030/68040 CPU expansion bus on GVP's COMBO accelerator boards. This "native CPU bus" totally eliminates the performance bottlenecks caused by "standard" buses (such as Amiga's Zorro II or Zorro III expansion slot bus). [ OK, so far, this is an incredibly fast hires 24-bit board. It sports what anyone could possibly want – super fast, extreme hi resolutions (beyond 1024×768, see below), as well as ultimate depth. And there's still a lot of great stuff to come… DIG!!! Oh yeah, if this is true, I say fooey to all those naysayers who tell me that chip memory has to be slow, DIG is hard to do, and that deeper == slower 🙂 ] Workbench screens are not continuously copied (requiring heavy CPU overhead) from the Amiga's chip memory to the EGS-110/24 framebuffer (as is the case on some other Amiga graphics boards which have tried to offer Workbench compatibility!). [ note: are we refering to DMI Resolver? 🙂 ] When the EGS Workbench driver is installed, the application literally works directly on the EGS-110/24 framebuffer memory (through the EGS libraries) instead of the Amiga's chip memory. In fact, the Amiga's chip memory that would normally be used by the application is freed up by the EGS workbench driver! To fully appreciate the effect of all this, the board must be seen in action! When the EGS Workbench driver is installed, it is even possible to open a custom Amiga screen, in up to 8-bit color depth , using the standard Amiga 2.0 libraries and calling any EGS screenmode. Obviously any application opening a custom screen will not work if it [ MORE ]
