GVP Compo + EGS 110/24

directly writes to the Amiga's "chip memory" or uses the Amiga's (slower!)
blitter to perform operations on the screen, once it is opened. However,
as long as an application uses the Amiga's standard library functions to
access and manipulate its custom screen it should work perfectly!
Some well-known applications which are able to run (unaltered!) directly on
the EGS-110/24 with the EGS Workbench driver installed are Softlogik's
PageStream and ASDG's CyngusED. [ note: I use CED 🙂 ] Both these
programs (and many others) are immediately able to take full advantage of
the high-resolution display of the EGS-110/24. Imagine a PageStream
document shown in full color at a resolution of 1280×1024, non-interlaced,
with a refresh rate of 60Hz (or for those fussy Scandinavian users, one
could use 1182×900, non-interlaced with a 70Hz refresh rate!). In
addition, all Commodore supplied Workbench utilities work flawlessly
directly on the EGS-110/24.

Of course the EGS graphics libraries provide MANY MORE features than those
offered by Commodore's Workbench and Graphics libraries, including support
for full 24-bit deep windows and many other enhanced features. So new
applications wishing to take full advantage of the sophisticated EGS-110/24
hardware, should directly call the EGS libraries. [ note: this makes
great sense, since the Amiga OS' GfxBase can't do diddly with 24 bits 🙂 ]
As the EGS libraries are similar to the native Amiga Graphics and Intuition
libraries, any Amiga programmer will very soon "feel at home" when directly
using the full power of the EGS libraries. [ note: the rest of this
paragraph blows me away (blows away the Indigo, and seems to push all but
the very highest end graphics workstations ] THE POWER OF THE EGS
LIBRARIES COUPLED WITH THE EGS-110/24 HARDWARE EVEN ALLOWS 24-BIT DEEP (16M
COLORS PER PIXEL) WINDOWS TO BE MOVED AROUND THE SCREEN VERY FAST AND
SMOOTH WITH THE IMAGE MOVING IN REALTIME WITHIN THE WINDOW
