Paul, Go into preferences and adjust the screen the way you want it. Instead of clicking on the save button – hold the right mouse button and use the menu choices at the top of the screen. Make sure the save icon option is turned on and save the screen position with a descriptive (but short:) name. Save the file in the env directory and then select leave out from the workbench icon menu. I do this for many preference settings – especially printer stuff. I have a line of icons on the right edge of the workbench which can be used to instantly reconfigure preferences with a simple double click on the icon This is not an ideal solution but it sure beats wading though preferences every time you switch programs Hope it works for you.
