James: Since you did not say in your messages I did not know what clock speed your friend's computor was. The B-Step chip produces errors and is an earlier version than the D-Step chip, that would be an upgrade. When I was checking, about a year ago, $150 for a 386 CPU was excellent price. According to the manual even some 25 MHz CPU's have this problem. If he has the 25 MHz then the computor must be made by Intel, earlier versions were made by Oliveti for AT&T. When we were evaluating 3DS at the FAA for their CBT project, they were using AT&T 386/25 computors, we finally had to disable the "Cache Memory". None of these problems ever stopped 3DS from loading, but it might help you later, who knows. As far as the other suggestion, it won't help if you don't have the B-Step chip.
