"However, if this isn't the case and the chipset will not be able to be used in the current line of Amiga's BUT the newer computers will be compatible with current software then I'm buying a clone and definitely not another Amiga." Whoah, now! I think you shouldn't be so unforgiving of Commodore. I am almost positive the new chipset won't fit into my A3000, but I am also confident that the emerging crop of Zorro-III graphics boards will more than make up for any capabilities in the new chipset. And furthermore, who would want VGA and soundblaster cards in an XT? VGA is slow enough on a 386 already and on an XT it's inhumane; I also have not seen any of these new hi-color VGA systems available for an XT. Let's face it, you can never expect backwards compatability on the motherboard chip level and what you are demanding is the equivalent to upgrading an XT to a 386DX in the original chip socket. PC users don't toss their machines into the closet when their onboard CGA and EGA graphics become obsolete, they upgrade with a board which is what we will have to resort to (whether the board comes from Commodore or not). You said you were going to play devil's advocate, not double-standard.
