I have a 386SX BB, and I wanted a 1.2 meg floppy for it since the manual says I can use them, so I bought a Chinon last week. My 5-1/4 cable was specially made by the folks who sold me the BridgeBoard, and worked with my old BB-XT floppy. The cable is unlike the one in the book, which is actually 2 cables; this one direct-connects between the board and the drive. Anyway, it doesn't work. I get a drive not ready error (abort? retry? fail?) every time I try. I played with the jumper settings, and finally called Chinon. They said use jumpers 1,3,7 and 8, which is my current configuration. I can't see why it won't work. My XT 360-k floppy was a Chinon, after all. I wouldn't know where to get the original cable hookup, nor do I know if that's the problem. Any ideas? Suggestions? Should I give up and buy a CBM 1.2-meg (that's what the cable was tested on)?
