Do a search in AMIGAFF for the keyword CACHE. There's one PD caching program around, and it is fast, stable, and really increases drive speed. I am not sure of how 3.0 handles IDE drives, but there may be parameters you can set within HDTOOLBOX that will improve drive speed; try increasing the block size (this will require reformatting your hard disk) and be sure you have enough buffers added to the disk; I think C= recommends 30 to 50 buffers per meg of RAM your system has; I would tend towards 50 or more. Don't add so many buffers that you don't have enough to leave plenty free, and make sure that the buffers are coming from the 32-bit RAM on your accelerator rather than the CHIP ram built into your A1200. However, don't expect to get an effective rate of more than about 500k/sec out of an IDE drive unless it is a really, really fast drive. Good luck. Bob
