#DBMS and CDROM?
A colleague who develops and distributes very large databases of technical
reference data asked me yesterday if any commercial DBMSs (e.g., dBASEn,
Paradox, Access, …) work with data stored on CDROMs.
Off hand, I don't know why they couldn't, although performance would
certainly be an issue with such long access times, but I don't have first
hand knowledge.
Can any one cite an example of such a system (or a counter argument to the
notion)?
