Charles, A couple comments regarding the Alpha and 3DS First, yes it is a very fasst processor and at the street price that DEC is planning, it should be a great seller. It iss running Windows NT and if 3DS goes that direction (which by Adesk's public endorsement of NT as the corporate direction is a VERY safe bet), then special versions of 3DS, ACAD, etc will not be necessary. Beware though, that even thought these systems have an EISA bus and will be running NT, the peripheral manufactures MUST recompile their low-level drivers to work in an Alpha box. Therefore, your TV board, animaition controller, etc … won't work until the mfgr's recompile and release new drivers. With that said, simply save your old slow 486-66 EISA system as the input/output system and use these machines for rendering … no problem. But in the case of a new 3DS customer, at least until MOST of the peripheral mfgr's come up to speed, then you'll need at least one other system for "animation specific" (= very small market) cards. Waiting for my 1st alpha Ang
