#Advice
I've been in and out of this forum a couple of times and you guys seem to know
where its at for CDROM questions (I guess that's why its the CDROM forum).
I've actually got my mitts on one 🙂 Unfortuneatly its on very short term loan
🙁
I have a 486@33 with 16Mb ram, a SoundBlaster V1.5 and a 1Gb SCSI2 disk with a
FASST-7000 controller, windows 3.1 and DOS5. The CDROM is from Compaq and
appears to be rebadged SONY CDU561-31 (or at least that is whats on the base of
it).
Here's the question. What additional stuff (I've got MSCDEX disk with it) do I
need to drive this thing? Can I make it play Audio CDs and if so how? Are there
any good shareware/freeware products out there that will drive this CDROM unit.
I don't mind paying some to a shareware author but I object to paying large
amounts to software corporations when I wont have the use of the drive for very
long. (Mind you I may get hooked and then I'll be back with questions about
which one to get for myself!)
Thanks in advance
