MacWarehouse Deal
MacWarehouse and PCWarehouse are sister organizations and they are apparently
spinning off a third, called CD-ROM Warehouse. There's a promotion on, in which
they sell a double-speed, multi-session CD-ROM drive for $299. It's not a speed
demon but it performs just fine and should work with Photo-CD, which is bound
to become essential for image work.
For the Grolier, be aware there are Windows and DOS versions as well as Mac,
and also that the same encyclopedia is packaged as Software Toolworks and
bundled with various CD-ROM drives. The CDROM Warehouse offers Grolier and The
Animals and Atlas Pack for $99 if you also buy a CD-ROM drive. Their 800 number
is 1-800-237-6623. (I have no connection to them, but I've been watching CD-ROM
prices for a year and this is the best deal I've come across, so I went for
it.)
