Gloria. That setup sounds like a normal interal CD-Rom to me. My own system has a small connector that goes to the sound blaster, That is your stetero out-put, the large cable to your sound blaster should be a SCSI cable, This is what works the drive. Step 1. does your system try to load a cd-rom device driver in your CONFIG.sys file. If it does and that is not working (sYSTEM LOCKS UP OR MESSAGE APPEARS CD-ROM NOT FOUND) I would call Gateway or creative labs. They should help you set-up the jumpers of software to work. Your Autoexec.bat must run MSCDEX if your config.sys is loading the driver succesfully and you still can't access you drive then MSCDEX isn't loading properly. most likly it is because you r using an old version of MSCDEX the new version is avilable from microsoft (ver2.2) and it is fully compatabl e up to DOS 6.0.
