I also have a 4mm DAT backup unit by a German company (I believe) called
Gigatrend. It was pretty cheap and the best thing is it can find a file in
high-speed – average 20 seconds, maximum 40 seconds. I once had to restore a
file I had deleted and the whole process took 30 seconds – very good for tape
backup.
My next one will be 8mm Exabyte, however, because of Abekas/D1 recording.
