Craig- The reason for Blue Ribbon's original answer to you is that no, MIDI doesn't store such information as chords and key changes- those are what is usually termed, in the software biz, as "metadata," rather than data. The *data* in a MIDI file consists of the individual notes and things which affect them, such as controller messages. Bars and Pipes *and* SuperJAM!, though, also deal in metadata which can be used to *derive* or *modify* individual notes, such as- tada!- chords and key changes! That's why I reminded BR that they *could* provide interchange of this data between B&P and SJ, if they use the "native" file formats (or "direct" communications between the programs) as an interchange medium. In this case the data itself- the notes- would be not only insufficient, but actually irrelevant. Don't know if you were interested in this level of detail, but I thought you might be. Bob – (!) –
