Unix is _not_ faster than DOS for Acad/3ds type applications, especially when
DOS is hooked up with Pharlap. This is largely because Unix is multi-tasking
and Dos single-tasking. This was verified by tests of Autocad on different
platforms/OS's done by Byte. A Compaq 486/50 running dos 5 and Acad was faster
than most of the RISC based workstations running their flavour Unix and Acad.
The only system which really panned the Compaq/DOS combo was the IBM/6000 and
that was 5 times more money and MIPS.
This was all explained in Byte and is not just my opinion, although I can see
how it makes sense.
