David, I do that all the time (except of course I use Resorcerer; ymmv).
AppMaker creates perfectly normal Macintosh resources in a perfectly normal
Macintosh resource fork.
Oh, there is one caveat. Depending on what version of ResEdit you have, you
might have a problem looking at DITLs that have the custom AppMaker items like
pop-up menus or lists. That's probably the only non-standard thing in AppMaker
(it creates things like pop-up menus by making a user item and encoding extra
information in the item data, which is normally 0 for a user item).
Resorcerer knows about AppMaker's extra items. ResEdit will show them as plain
user items.
