Hello Bernie: I'm interested in the Macintosh positions you are putting together. I have been working as a contract programmer for two years now and before that worked for several software companies. My most recent project was the working on the Japanese version of Symantec's GreatWorks – I converted the assembly language word processor to support two byte text, inline text conversion, Japnaese styles and line ending options, and complex Japanese find and replace. At Deneba Systems I cowrote the text engine used in Canvas 3.0 and also did a lot of graphical work (arrow heads, polygon manipulations, pixmap handling, and external tools). Also at Deneba I worked on the UltraPaint team. In between these two positions I have contructed a limited Graphical Information System for LaserScan Systems. This program was written using TCL and displayed Census Bureau TIGER files as street maps in a "large coordinate space" zoomable window. This program supported both table and graphical views (CTree was used as an underlying data base engine). Complex editing features were included as well as zoom layering, color encoding based on feature type, and floating tools. I also worked at Reata Software, where I cowrote HeapQC. This Quality Assurance utility included code that I wrote that scrambled heaps ten times faster than MacsBug (Steve Jasik contacted our company president offering to purchase the code but the president turned him down). We sold this product to Apple, Quark, Adlus, Deneba, Symantec, Claris, Microsoft, and many other smaller firms. Besides the above experiences I have also constructed INITS, DRVRs, and XTND stand-alone code resources. My articles have appeared in MacTutor (now MacTech) and Thinkin' Cap magazines. One unusual aspect of my situation is that I must live within the State of Florida on the account of my step-daughter whose father lives in Miami (I do not wish to seperate her from her natural father).
